Alexander McQueen

Ah! First article in this blog must and was meant to

 be about my favourite designer and an amazing person with a quite tragic life Alexander McQueen!

Alexander McQueen was born in 1970 in the East End of London. His father was a taxi driver, so Alexander didn’t have that many opportunities to choose what he wanted to do in the future.

In the 1986 he decides to leave school at the age of 16 and doesn’t want to be dependent on his father anymore. So he gets start working at Anderson & Shepherd on Savile Row, where he reportedly once embroidered a suit for the Prince of Wales with the words "I am a c**t".

He earned his master's degree in fashion design from London's Central Saint Martins (formerly Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design) in 1992. At his graduation in the form of the diploma work he makes a fashion show, which made lots of people to talk about his style of work and his crazy and wild view at the clothes. After meeting Japanese designer Kodzhe Tacuno and an Italian Romeo Dizzily he learns how a lot of technics in making clothes and the marketing. And after that he presents the world his first collection on the week of fashion on prêt-a-porter in London which was in 1994.

The of LVMH president, Bernard Arnault, controversially installed McQueen as John Galliano's successor at Givenchy in 1996. McQueen told the fashion magazine Vogue in October 1997 that his debut couture offering for the label was "crap", but he stayed with the house until March 2001 - continuing to create challenging collections, including one featuring car-robots spraying paint over white cotton dresses and double amputee model Aimee Mullins striding down the catwalk on intricately carved wooden legs - until the contract which he said was "constraining his creativity" was ended.

Alexander won four times he won the British Fashion Awards' British Designer of the Year. In 2003, he received the CFDA Award for Best International Designer and was honored with a CBE from Queen Elizabeth II for his services to the fashion industry. And the award of the Men's Wear Designer of the year  in 2004.

For almost five year Alexander McQueen had a place at the main designer of the fashion house Givenchy. His art had the exact same style of his, for example instead of the models he could use mannequins on the rollers. Which was just incredible.

When he stopped his work with Givenchy, Alexander McQueen makes a business deal with Gucci Group. Selling them 51% of the Alexander McQueen brand, he becomes the creative designer his own (named after him) label.

His spring/summer 2010 collection, which featured alien-inspired make-up and reptilian prints, was lauded as his best by the fashion press, with Selfridges buying director Anita Barr telling VOGUE.COM she believed it would be the department store's "best-selling collection ever".

Alexander McQueen died on the 11th of February at the age of 40... amid unconfirmed reports that he committed suicide....
